Luc Tuymans Art Exhibit at the SF MOMA

Went to see this show after seeing this portrait on the exhibit advertising (above). This image hooked me in. I was kinda disappointed because the exhibit was spotty. His portraits were very nice, with a clean kinda’ vague feel to them, expressionist tendencies and a very subdued palette. Almost as if there was a haze over the canvas. But his other works seemed pedestrian and I felt they didn’t belong in a major museum exhibition. These were boring still lives and landscapes, only one was any good, which I feature below. Worth seeing- for the nicely rendered, confrontational portrait works.
