The SF Twins – “So Swishy in Their Satin and Tat”

Spotted the “SF Twins” in the city and was able to click a drive-by shot. I have spotted them many times but this is the first time I had a camera at the ready. (Obviously not too ready or it would have been a better shot.)  They are always so fashionably dressed, in matching outfits and impeccable coiffed hair. If you don’t know about the twins or haven’t ever seen them, below is a bit from Wikipedia about them and  a slideshow from shots collected from the web. They are a very cool little eccentric bit of local character.

“Marian and Vivian Brown (b. 25 January, 1927) are American identical twins and icons of San Francisco, known for the appearance in media with their signature identical bright snappy outfits with hats atop their meticulously coiffed hair.

Vivian and Marian were born in Kalamazoo, Michigan, just eight minutes apart. Vivian is the elder. They grew up in Mattawan, Michigan, where they attended Mattawan High School and graduated as co-valedictorians. They went on to earn matching degrees in business education from Western Michigan University at Kalamazoo. With the intent of escaping hot summers and the long cold winter months, the Browns left Michigan for San Francisco in 1970, and found work as secretaries at separate downtown businesses.”
